Sited on the western bank of Lake Villarrica, 789 kilometres south of Santiago, Pucon is considered a major centre for tourism in southern Chile.

How to get there Pucon is easily accessible by car or by bus.
By car, follow the Pan American Highway as far as Temuco, turn south on the road to Freire and turn west and then east and follow Route 55 highway for next 75 kilometres. From Argentina, cross at the Mamuil Malal pass and head south on the Loncoche-Villarrica to Pucon. All the roads are well sign-posted.
Buses run to Pucon from Temuco and Valdivia, leaving every hour and every half hour in the summer.
Volcanoes
The Andes mountain range is part of the Pacific ring of fire which has left its mark on the landscape surrounding Pucon in the form of the Villarrica, Sollipulli, Quetropillan, Lanin, Llaima and Choshuenco volcanoes.
You can climb and ski on Choshuenco and Villarrica.
Located in the Villarrica National Park, the 2,847 meter high Villarrica is one of the world’s ten most active volcanoes and is well-known as the only volcano in the world that one can climb to observe the boiling magma of the crater.
The Villarrica ski centre has ten lifts and chair lifts and is open for skiing between June and October.
